Looking for that post workout energy or want to satisfy that after dinner sugar craving! This is the receipe that will satisfy both without added sugar. All the sweetness comes from the figs and dark chocolate chips.
Figs are high in fiber and a good source of Vitamin B6. They are not easily available year around so dried figs work well when you hyderate them. Figs are lusciously sweet with a texture that combines the chewiness of their flesh, the smoothness of their skin, and the crunchiness of their seeds.
1 cup dried figs
1 cup hot water
1 cup oats
1/2 cup dark chocolate chips
1/4 cup chia seeds or flaxseeds ( optional)
1/4 cup cocoa powder
1 Soak the dried figs in boiling hot water and set aside .
2 In a bowl mix the oats, chocolate chips, chia seeds, and cocoa powder
3 Purée the figs with the water it is soaked in.
4 Combine the figs and oatmeal mix and shape into balls .
5 Roll in some cocoa powder or dessicated coconut.
6 Refrigerate for 30mins .
